ఈమాటలో గణపతి ముని సంస్కృత రచనకు ఆంగ్ల అనువాదం ప్రకటించటం ఆనేది ఆభిలషణీయం కాని పని. ఎవరికోసం ఈ ఇంగ్లీష్ అనువాదం తెలుగువాళ్ళు చదువుకునే పత్రికలో? తెలుగు అనువాదం అయితే ఎంత ఆనందంగా ఉండేది. సూటి ఆంగ్ల రచన వేయటం వేరు. దానికి కొంత అర్థం ఉంటుంది. కన్నడంలోనో బెంగాలీలోనో ఉన్న రచనలకు ఆంగ్ల అనువాదాలు గూడా వేస్తారేమో ముందు ముందు. ఈ పని పూర్తిగా పాండిత్య ప్రకర్ష గానే ఉంది.
ఒక విన్నపం: ఒక సమాధానంలో -ళ్ళ- రాయాల్సి వచ్చినప్పుడు కూర్పరి -ళ్ల- అని రాసారు కాబట్టి మీ సమాధానాల్లో కూడా -ళ్ల- రాయండి. -ళ్ళ- తో రాసిన సమాధానాలను కూడా సరైన సమాధానంగానే పరిగణిస్తాము.

Awhile ago, I was looking up andhrabharathi dictionaries, to use a word close to the one I had in mind to describe a particular ‘lighting’ and was thrilled to see so many synonyms under the word ‘luminous’ which are brilliantly matched up with their Telugu counterparts.
Recently saw a movie called “Professor and the madman,” wherein the humongous task of compiling first Oxford dictionary is shown. Same thrill went thru me, in the scenes the discussion is about words. I more or less ignored the sections about men and women troubles, morals and madness. Just not in the mood to do rotten tomatoes kind of movie viewing and focus if Mel Gibson and Sean Penn did good job as actors. Who cares?

Thank you very much for your affectionate introduction of KD. At the ‘vEdika’ meet in Hyderbad, you have heard me enumerate the reasons for publishing KD after 60 years. I do not want to repeat. But one thing, I must emphasize. I still believe that we don’t have a good grasp on writing literary history.
No. I haven’t read Borges’ critical expose’ on Text and Context. I read a couple of his short stories long time ago. And, some of his poetry translated into Telugu. Frankly, I did not like the translations.
If you are referring to his work related to Quixote, I have heard about it in the 90s from one of my friends, but never tried to go for it. Now that I want to revisit Text and Context problem from several more angles (with additional references from Thomas Kuhn’s ideas on the Structure of Scientific Revolutions), I will certainly get a copy and read it.
