First my apologies. I am a slow reader; worse than that slower writer. I just finished reading Nagaraju’s excellent story. Story – it might not be for the standard picky traditional editors in the Bharat – Hell with it. I call it a narration. The technique made me read it in one fell swoop.
There were over a dozen New Yorker magazines on the table staring at me. January 2020 to March 2020. I started going over each one, as usual, very slowly. The issue of January 20, 2020 caught my attention. There is a story by Bryan Washington. It’s titled Visitor. I want eemaata readers to read it. I find a distant, very distant, yet far removed parallel to Nagaraju’s story. It might be due to my loss of ‘sense’ of taste to appreciate, or I might be having a sudden ‘senior’ moment.
Don’t get me wrong and attach any labels too quickly. No. I ain’t suggesting anything stupid. What we might still consider as taboo even today wasn’t a taboo in the west. That’s as far as the subject matter is concerned. On the otherhand, I found the narration in the New Yorker convoluted and clumsier. I wish Nagaraju has written his story in English.
ఇంటర్నెట్లో డిక్షనరీ అందుబాటులో ఉంచడానికి చేసిన ప్రయత్నం అభినందించదగిన గొప్ప కార్యం. ఇట్టి కార్యక్రమంలో భాగస్వామ్యులవుతున్న దాతలకు పాలుపంచుకుంటున్న బాషాభిమానులకు నాహృదయపూర్వక వందనములు. ఇదిఎందరికో ఉపయుక్తమైన కార్యక్రమం. ఈ ప్రాజెక్టు సుసాధ్యం చేయడానికి సాయపడ్డ అందరికీ ధన్యవాదాలు. నమస్కారాలు.
పెద్దవయసులో బిడ్డను కనడం ఏదో వైపరీత్యం అనుకునే సమాజానికి మంచి సందేశంలా ఉంది. కధనం హృదయాన్ని ద్రవింపచేసింది, పలు సందర్భాల్లో.
ఈ మధ్య హిందీలో వచ్చిన ‘బదాయిహో’ సినిమా గుర్తుకు వచ్చింది.
రెండు విషయాలు… ఒకటి ఉర్ల పేర్లు, రెండవది ఇంటిపేర్లు. ఊర్ల పేర్లు బుద్దుడి కాలంలో ఏర్పడ్డవి. తరువాత కొత్తగా వచ్చిన పరిణామాల్లో కొన్ని కొత్తవి వచ్చి చేరాయి. ఇంటి పేర్లు లేటెస్ట్ డెవలప్మెంట్. ఇంటి పేరుకు తండ్రి పేరుకు చాలా సంబంధం ఉంది. ప్రపంచవ్యాప్తంగా తండ్రి పేర్లు ఇంటిపేరుగా చలామణీలో ఉంటుంది. ఎక్కడైతే కుల ప్రస్తావన నిలబడిందో అక్కడ తండ్రి పేరు కాకుండా కొత్త ఇంటి పేర్లు వచ్చి చేరాయి.
సురేశ్ గారు, మీ వ్యాసాలు చాలా బాగున్నాయ్. చాలా ఇన్ఫర్మేటివ్ గా ఉన్నాయి. ఒక ఆర్టికల్ కోసం వస్తే మీ అన్ని ఆర్టికల్స్ చదివేలా చేశారు. చాలా కృతజ్ఞతలు.
తెలుగు పదాలకు వ్యుత్పత్తి తెలిపే పుస్తకాలు ఏమైనా ఉన్నాయా? ఉంటే తెలుపండి, ప్లీజ్. I have many curious questions to know about Telugu literature but clueless about sources and path. If you have any links, please suggest me.
