It all happened truly to this writer tapping keys on laptop in this Telugu story here, and so did it all happened truly -just about hundred years back to young Hemingway typing away on his typewriter, in his dingy apartment; walking streets of Paris; making notes, constructing flawless sentences in the cafes in Montparnasse, Paris.
“A moveable Feast” is a wonderful little book to get to know Hemingway as a starving artist and to get glimpses of contemporary Gertrude Stein, Scott Fitzgerald, James Joyce, Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot and Picasso etc., etc.
The book made me look up the meaning of word ‘inaccrochable.’ When Stein tells Hemingway (in reference to his short story ‘Up in Michigan.’) there is no point for a writer to write a story like that, just as there is no point for a painter to paint anything ‘inaccrochable’. I read that story, (Up in Michigan) and I contrasted it with a story written by Kate Chopin (A shameful affair) in my mind. I thought both were good short stories, but while H is macho and plain, Kate is shrewd and stylish.
I bet I will do, repeat readings of Kate, just as I love to listen many times to these Hindi words:
“Kitne jalve fizaon mein bikhre magar
Maine ab tak kisi ko pukara nahin
Tumko dekha to nazrein yeh kehne lagin
Humko chehre se hatna ganwara nahin…”
That is writing you can hang on the wall, in any language, for me,

చాన్నాళ్ళ క్రితం రచనలైనా, మీ వ్యాసం, శ్రీ వేలూరిగారి వ్యాసం రెండూ రెలవెన్స్ కోల్పోలేదు. ఇప్పుడు గ్రంథచౌర్యం నిత్య వ్యవహారం, సోషల్ మీడియా ధర్మం కూడా చాలా సహాయం చేస్తోంది.
