i request you dwell upon the editors to consider a small piece on J .P. L. Gwynn.
We, as a speech society are not exactly noted for being punctilious. In matters related to mother tongue. Yet, we are enamored at the affection shown by non native philophiles for our language. Our society is does not discriminate between native admirers and foreign admirers. We meticulously ignore the both. We are scrupulous in holding these enthusiasts of our language and our culture in relegation to oblivion.
We never hold these linguists in high gratitude for their love for our language. You cannot really repay the services rendered by their meticulous study of the language. Our society is indebted to theses linguists for infusing a propitious, modern, rational, propitious approach in matters of etymology and of phonetics.
J.P.L Gwyn is one among them. He may be remembered and be paid our tribute in his centenary year.He has rendered valuable service on two fronts. He devoted his entire time after retirement for the dictionary work. His dictionary, compiled in association with Prof. Venkateswara Shastry, has incorporated the latest practices developed in etymological enquiry.
J.P.L Gwynn has played a significant role, throwing his weight as a senior most bureaucrat in setting the official policy tilted towards a spoken tongue .An ICS bureaucrat of the pre independence cadre, he developed a deep fascination for Telugu, and served the Telugu speaking areas only. He chose to remain in independent India and chose A P cadre. His love for Telugu is said to be partially responsible for this choice.

The erstwhile government of A.P.constituted a committee on 28-12-1966 to come up with viable options as to the most suitable mode of Telugu academic instruction. The recommendations of the committee turned to be progressive, pragmatic and to be conducive to the growth of language. The committee is referred as J.P. L Gwynn Committee, and is hailed to have set a pioneering example in setting guide lines for a vernacular in independent India.

అంటూ నేను జూన్ 8 న పై ప్రకటన చేసిన తరువాత జూన్ 21 నాటికి 200 ప్రతులు దింపుకోవడం జరిగిందని నేను సంతోషిస్తున్న సమయంలో ఒక సంఘటన జరిగింది. కంప్యూటర్లు వాడడంలో ప్రావీణ్యం లేని ఒక వ్యక్తి ఏమిటి చెయ్యాలో తెలియక బొత్తాం నాలుగు సార్లు నొక్కేడు. నాలుగు ప్రతులు దిగేయి! ఈ లెక్కని ఎంతమంది వ్యక్తులు ఈ పుస్తకాన్ని దింపుకున్నారో ఎలా తెలుస్తుంది? సగటున, 200 ని 4 చేత భాగించగా 50 మందా? లేక నాకు కనిపించే “కౌంటరు” ఒక IP address నుండి ఎన్ని సార్లు దింపుకున్నా ఒక్క సారే లెక్కపెడుతుందా? సాఫ్ట్ వేర్ రంగంలో మన తెలుగు వాళ్ల కొమ్ములు తిరిగిపోయాయని అంటూన్నారు కనుక ఏదో చిన్న ధర్మ సందేహం. – వేమూరి
