కొన్నేళ్ళ కిందట తమిళనాడు ముఖ్యమంత్రి జయలలిత, మద్రాసులోని “పనగల్ పార్కు” లో కమలాదేవిని సత్కరించి, ఆమెకు ఆర్థిక సహాయము అందజేశారు. అది పత్రికలలో వచ్చింది. ఫోటో కూడా వేశారు. చూశాను కానీ దురదృష్టవశాత్తూ నేను దానిని తీసుకోలేకపోయాను.
కధ చాలా బాగున్నది. చాలా రోజుల తర్వాత మంచి కధ చదివాను. మన తెలుగు కధల్లో సర్వసాధారణంగా కనిపించే అనవసరమైన ఉపోద్ఘాతాలు, ఉపన్యాసాలు, సాగతీత, పేజీల కొద్దీ వర్ణనలు, స్వగతాలు, మాండలికాల మాయలు ఏమీ లేకుండా హాయిగా ఉంది.
ఆర్యా, శ్రీ సంపత్కుమారాచార్య వారి వ్యాసము మా మిత్రులతో పేస్ బుక్ లో పంచుకొనుటకు మీ అనుమతి కోరుచున్నాను.

Why only see the woman, even in the paintings where woman and man are side by side? Why the refusal of male essayist to observe the physical appearance, emotions of a man? What is he afraid of? Loneliness, aging, ugliness, death – are these exclusive to women? Is man exempted? Is a male a non-emotional, non-destructible substance?
I would let the essayist explain.
Of course, the male essayist can categorically refuse, the slanted impressions he is creating, in his essay.:-)
Like Georgia O’Keeffe, the female artist, for instance.:-)
When an adult viewer looks at G. O’Keeffe paintings of flowers, they can not fail to see female genitalia. And in some, the male genitalia as well. Some viewers of art, see them as expressions of G. O’Keeffe own sexuality and her awareness of sexuality in general. But the artist herself, insisted that her flowers are nothing but accurate (magnified) anatomical drawings of flowers.
A few of her ‘flower paintings’ are included in the current exhibition “Inventing Abstraction 1910-1925” at MOMA, New York. Rightly so. Her paintings can also be included, in Veluri’s art selection /essay – which he thinks is ‘all about’ women.

నారాయణరావు గారి వ్యాసం చాలా బాగుంది. సుమతీ అన్నది సంబోధన, దానివల్ల సుమతీశతకం పేరు రాలేదు. నారా లాంటి వారే సుమతి శతకాన్ని పదేపదే సుమతీ శతకం అనటం బాగులేదు. 1842లో బ్రౌన్ పుస్తకం అచ్చు వేసినప్పుడు 1870 ప్రసక్తి అవసరం లేదు. నారా గారి విశ్లేషణ చాలా బాగుంది.

అన్న నేచర్ పొయెట్ చిన్న చిన్న మాటలు, అర్ఘ్యాలూ, పాద్యాలూ లేకుండా, ఈ కథ చెప్పదలుచుకున్న దాన్ని ఎంతో మిన్నగా అంతకన్నా చాలా హాయిగా చెపుతున్నవనుకుంటాను.
