While appreciating the sentiments of Sri Prakasa Rao, I would like to add that the so-called film musicians’ association has not taken any initiative to hold at least a condolence meeting for PBS in Hyderabad or Chennai. It is easier for any one like P Suseela to demand Governments to have a memorial. But what THEY (these singers) have done in their personal capacity? Let’s ask.
There was, and still is a dreadful paucity of informed serious critics in matters related to cinema. What we muster as music criticism of films hovers on the periphery of being flippant. This overview presents the good taste and better observation of P.B.Sreenivas garu.
It is sad to have lost him suddenly. [A few months back P.B. S garu was hale and healthy when he spoke at a felicitation organized at Ravindra Brarathi, Hyderabad]
I thank Paruchuri Sreenivas garu for retrieving this piece. This republication is a fitting tribute to the memory of a sweet voiced singer and a learned, discerningly tasted, facetious critic.

PS: Yeah! You are right, I should not have mentioned ‘Frankenstein’ at all, because, it is a great book. It is a great creation. There is a possibility, one might mistake I am paying a compliment.

This may sound witty to you, but to me it does not sound great at all. Both lakshmanna gAru and I gave the genesis of this project and explained in detail the relevant background to it. Once again, our aim was to present some of his best songs (in our opinion) and discuss a few in greater detail. Where possible, we obtained rare materials concerning PBS like the video in which he “acts” as PBS and sings, together with some rare songs of PBS that are not usually heard. What else could one have done in this regard in the very short time available to the authors separated by states and continents? The only other option is not to write at all, which again is not an option. I don’t know what was “cut” and what was “put” in your response. I can only respond to what I read and not to what I cannot. As always, your sincere friend – mOhana

My letter had more in it, and the editors chose to edit it out. By editing it, it acquired a skewed meaning. It no longer expresses what I said. The editors might have thought it would offend more people, if they publish it all. Then they might as well have not published it, all together. They would have been more right.
If my letter is published as it is, I might be able to answer, ask questions, discuss related topics. Even if they don’t publish all of it, it is O.K. I have no big problems, if I am misunderstood, disliked or not mourned. 🙂

This comment/నీతి? shows, the editors have taken ‘a side.’ An editor of a magazine can not take ‘a side,’ when multiple readers are expressing their views and opinions. Particularly after editing an opinion.:-)
Currently watching a very large green chameleon hanging upside down on my window pane. Fascination seems to be mutual, our eyes are locked, tensions are mounting,
