Ruskin or Pushkin, it is not ‘taste’ J.K. Mohana Rao is discussing in the above two lines. Is he? I thought these lines below reflect Ruskin’s hang-ups on ‘taste and morality’ better.

Why does that person in the Telugu land get upset that the seller of grapes is not talking in Telugu? If it is about issue of ‘taste’ – to that person in the train – the ‘grapes’ which are being sold by the grape seller in that train station, should taste the same, even if they are called ద్రాక్ష, or अंगूर, . Particularly when he understands all these different languages. Surely, it is the patriotic/my land/my language morality, that’s interfering with his enjoyment of the grapes. That must be it. Classic example of link between morality and taste.
Why would the man in the train, not think more along these following lines?

ఆ పద్యం వెన్నంటే ఉండి, ‘సత్య వాక్యం’ గురించి శకుంతల దుష్యంతుడితో చెప్పే పద్యాలు అవెంత బాగుంటాయి!

I have invited him to give endowment lectures on an adjudged favorite topic of his namely Harivamsam in the Sri Venkatrswara University at Tirupati as head of the department of Telugu Studies. According to his own confession it was his first entry into university portals to address the academia there. The academic body of the department of Telugu in the Kakatiya university at Warangal which had strong allegiance to Sri Viswanatha Satyanarayana’s literature and also an association with Sri Sarabhayya could not make an attempt to invite him to the university. Mr Sarabhayya enthralled the packed house of connoisseurs for th entire two days. I have been reading your much repeated idea of singability of a song and I fail to understand you. Or rather I disagree with you.
When you write down a lyric, sure you write down the sentences. But when it comes to singing, there is musical notation with musical notes on the top and the lyric broken down into syllables under the notes. There could be more than one note per syllable. Music/ melody is legato, the notes run into one another, musical thought does not break at measures, it over flows, which makes the lyrics sentences flow and run, jam into the next one. Music is not plywood cut into exact lengths and stacked in neat piles, like in home depot. Music does not end at the end of each sentence. It continues. It pauses, it speeds up, it lingers, it murmurs, it shouts sometimes and it ends when the whole musical piece ends. What does music have to do with sentences?
And
What does music have to do with SriSri, and what would real jewelers think when itsy bitsy words are compared to pearls and diamonds. Not to mention how oceans and skys, feel about all this trespassing.
You are overthinking chandassu. Overfinding things and overassigning, over crediting thoughts to skulls which never thought much.
