తమిళుల సంస్కృతి ప్రముఖంగా రెండు భాగాలు. అయ్యర్ – అయ్యంగార్ లదీ, ఇతరులదీ. కర్ణాటక సంగీతం తమిళనాడులో మొదటి వర్గానికి చెందినది. – అందులో అయ్యర్ – అయ్యంగార్లు కాని వారు కూడా ఉన్నారు – వాళ్ళు వాళ్ళ పద్ధతిలో చేసిన కృషిని చాలా impressive గా ప్రదర్శిస్తారు. దాదాపు ఒక సంవత్సరం క్రితం అనుకోకుండా టీవీ చానెళ్ళ మీద కప్పదాట్లతొ ఒక తమిళ చానెల్ దగ్గర ఆగి పోయాను. ఒక క్షణం చూసి నడుస్తున్నదేమిటొ గుర్తుపట్టేశాను – పసిరిక పొలాల్లో పరుగెడుతున్నాడు. గిరిక తపస్సు – విశ్వనాథను అక్షరం అక్షరం తెరకెక్కించేశారా అనిపించింది. ‘ఆయిరం శిరం’ సీరియల్. తర్వాత కథా భాగాలు చూడటం కుదరలేదు.
నాతో పాటు ప్రస్తుతం పనిచేస్తున్న తమిళ కుర్రకారుతో అంటూ ఉంటాను: “There is not much of a difference or gap between you Tamils and we, Andhras, what we call ‘cap’ you call it, ‘gap’, that is all.” అని.
It is quite heartening to know that the Tamil society, as a whole, remembers passionately; and still does pay homage reverentially to this Telugu composer genius. The creative genius of the composer holds more relevance in the contemporary main stream cultural milieu of the Tamil speaking society, than it is in the case of that of any other language. But, as to the authenticity of the episodes in the life of the saint, the Tamilians are as undiscriminating as is any other language group.
South Indian Cultural Association, a Tamil cultural group sponsored a Tamil musical play at RavindraBharathi, In Hyderabad. A Chennai based theatre group by the name “United Visuals “staged the play titled”Tyagarajaar’ on 19th February, 2016. The instrumental background score, composed by Bombay Jayasri and the kritis of the saint are prerecorded, whereas the dialogue part was live.
Despite the overemphasis on the devotional dimension , rather than on the creative brilliance of the composer; despite the inauthentic episodes that pervade the plot, you cannot help immensely appreciating the extraordinary effort that went into making the play on the life of the great composer , whose lyrical works happen to be in a sister language rather than Tamil. T.V.Varadarajan and United Visuals sincerely deserve your appreciation. You are free to hold your hope alive that the plot be rendered more authentic, and the emphasis be shifted the nuanced musical genius of the poet composer.

ఆయన మిలేవా మారీక్ (Mileva Maric) అనే ఆవిడను ప్రేమించి పెళ్ళి చేసుకున్నాడు. మిలేవా ఆయన మొదటి భార్య. పెళ్ళి కాక ముందు మిలేవా అచ్చయ్య వల్ల ఒక ఆడపిల్లను కన్నది. అచ్చయ్య ఆ పసిపిల్ల మొగం కూడా చూడలేదు. ‘కుందేటి కొమ్ము సాధించగలిగిన’ పరిశోధకులకు గూడా ఆ పిల్ల ఏమైదో ఈనాటికీ తెలియదు. మిలేవాను పెళ్ళి చేసుకున్న కొన్నాళ్ళ కు ఆయన ఆమెకు రాసిన ఒక ఉత్తరంలో భాగం (ఇంగ్లిష్ అనువాదం):

1. that my clothes and laundry are kept in good order;
2. that I will receive my three meals regularly in my room;
