I did not even knew a book called VaitaaLikulu existed until I read Ramaraogari message. In fact, I read very few books of modern Bhavakvis, except Andhra Prasasti by Viswanatha and some works of Indraganti Hanumacchastrigaru. So, any similarities to other poets are entirely conincidental in thought or plot. My two favorite poets in Telugu literature are Ramaraja BhushaNudu and Indraganti. I think these two represnt pretty well the entire spectrum of Sampradaayika literature from old to new. There is no greater Bhavakavi than RamarAja BhushaNudu – no other poet could have described the Suktimati-Kolahala episode better than him. In short, I did not try to imitate anybody in this Khandika, because I did not read anything like this by anyone before, so any similarities are entirely conincidental.
చాలా కాలం తర్వాత భావకవిత్వపు పోకడలతో మళ్లీ ఇలాటి పద్యాలు రావటం ముదావహం. వెల్చేరు గారు నన్నయ గారి నుంచి నేటి వరకూ వచ్చిన అన్ని రకాల పద్యరచనా ప్రక్రియలు ఏకకాలంలో కనిపించే సాహిత్యం బహుశా తెలుగుభాషలోనే వున్నదని ఒకచోట అన్నారు. ఈ పద్యాలు చదువుతుంటే “వైతాళికులు” సంకలనం లోని అనేక ఖండికలు గుర్తుకొచ్చాయి. ఐతే ప్రస్తుత ఖండికలో వాడిన సాధనాలలో కొత్తదనం లోపించిందనే అనిపిస్తున్నది. ఉదాహరణకు, ప్రేయసి కోసం ప్రకృతి లోని వృక్ష పక్ష్యాదులని అర్థించటం, అవి ఆమె మాకన్నా సుకుమారి అని, కళామూర్తి అని బదులివ్వటం, కథంతా గడిచాక అది కల అని ముగించటం – ఇది ఎన్నో సార్లు నడిచిన దారే. ఛందస్సులో ప్రయోగాలు చెయ్యటం కూడ అలాటిదే. భావాలు కూడ పాతవే అనిపిస్తున్నాయి. అంటే, అవే కవిసమయాలు, పద సంపుటుల ప్రయోగాలు. ఈ ఖండికను తక్కువ చెయ్యటం కాదు కాని ప్రతిభావంతులైన దేశికాచారి గారు భావ కవితా మార్గాన్ని ఇంకొన్ని కొత్త పుంతలకు విస్తరిస్తే ఇంకా బాగుంటుందేమో !
నా యీ ఆలోచన/అవిజ్ఞత అసందర్భమైతే మన్నించ ప్రార్థన. వేలూరి వారు తమ సంపాదకీయంలో చాలా చోట్ల “హృదయపూర్వక అభినందనలు” అని వాడారు. అందుకు బదులుగా “హృదయపూర్వక అభివందనములు” అన్న పదప్రయోగము మరింత సమయ-భావోచితంగా వుంటుందేమో?

Talking about finer points of prosody, expressing opinion and asking questions is vastly different from blame. Missing this only encourages to
silently ignore the art and artist. And tt doesn’t sound like much of a
refinement or an art, if only praises are welcome, but cordial and open
questioning are considered a blame.
