“మా కేరళ యాత్ర ” by Muthevi Ravindranath, polished by Vignana Vedika, Tenali [ any connection with Sarala Publishers?]
చాలా అద్భుతంగా వర్ణించారు. ధన్యవాదాలు. పోతనకు (ఆ మాటకు వస్తే మరే సంస్కృత కవికైనా ) కృష్ణుడు మొదట భగవంతుడు. తరవాతే పసిబాలుడు అయినా మరేదైనా. కానీ ఎర్రనకు కృష్ణుడు మొదట పసిబాలుడు. ఆ తరువాతే భగవంతుడైనా మరేదైనా.. పై పద్యం నిద్ర లేవంగనే తల్లి కనపడక ఏడుపు అందుకునే ఏ పిల్లవాడికయినా సరిపొతుంది. శ్రీ రమ్యాంఘ్రి యుగంతో సహా. ప్రబంధ స్త్రీల ఏడుపు పద్యాలవలె ఎందుకో పసిబాలుల ఏడుపు పద్యాలు ప్రసిద్ధికెక్కలేదు. అసలు ప్రసిద్ధిలో పోతన పద్యాల ముందు ఎర్రనపద్యాలే నిలబడ లేక పోయాయి. కారణం మళ్ళీ ధూర్జటీ చెప్పిందే. ‘చాలుంజాలు కవిత్వముల్ నిలచునే సత్యంబు వర్ణించుచో’!!… ఇక్కడ సత్యము అంటే భగవంతుడని కాక మూర్తీభవించిన భక్తి భావం అనుకుంటే పొతన భక్తి ముందర ఎర్రన కవిత్వం ఆనలేదు తెలుగు వాళ్ళకి. కానీ కవితా దృష్టితొ చూస్తే ఎర్రనే ‘మెరుగు’ దేలుతాడు. భైరవభట్ల గారికి మరొ సారి ధన్యవాదాలు.

Did I ever refuse to drink your selection of wine? No.
Did I ever not read your suggested reading? No.
Do I debate with you? Yes. There will be more of it.
Veluri, Most of the times we are in assonance, and even when we are in dissonance, we are most comfortable with the dissonance. And it is beautiful.
Yesterday, having an early morning game of tennis for an hour, and walking around the grounds in sunshine, I am in jolly good spirits. Today it is raining gorgeously here, and I am in jolly good spirits. I am mostly thinking of a musical piece of G.F. Handel, how to make -three voices in that composition of his -be heard distinctly on piano, bringing out the beauty of each, without drowning any one of them.
Since you switched me to writing,
And we being a bit in Pundit Elchuri’s domain here, I will suspend that tough musical task for a moment, instead, present a song of mine (initially published in RTS,) as it too is a woman’s quest for Siva.

*My first love in musical instruments being Veena, this music was monophonic. Then I added my voice to it, it became polyphonic. Somewhere along the line, the music became symphonic. Like in the movie- “Begin Again” I started hearing a whole orchestra of violins, violas, flute, double Bass, and drums. The one dancer quickly became many dancers, like in radio city music hall. Some of the dancers turned into animals -buffaloes, elephants, half donkeys, and it started looking more like “Carnival of Animals” as composed by Camille Saint-Saens.
I still have ahead of me, personally imposed super fun task of being adept in western music software, compose music for my own lyrics, and publish my music.
Veluri garu! You, the personification of term “exhilaration” easily can understand. There is something to be said about status of exalted living.
అద్భుతం శ్రీనివాస్ గారూ! వారి ప్రసంగంలో ప్రవహించిన ప్రముఖుల ప్రస్తావన సాహిత్యాభిలాష పెంచడము కాకుండా, ఇంతమంది మహామహుల పరిచయాలు చదవడానికైనా ఈ జీవితకాలం సరిపడదు కదా అని చింత కలుగుతోంది. ధన్యవాదాలు.

“I am surprised at Veluri. I am disappointed at the lack of -freedom spirit. Surprised at the territorial rights that are being demanded of other free spirited writers. A writer has every right to pick up any subject and talk about it. It could have been said hundreds of times before him.”
I too am surprised at Lyla garu asserting as above. Generally, it is courteous to refer to if the same things have been said before by others. But, one could be a free-spirit and say, ” I don’t care.” But, that’s their choice.
Lyla garu further says:
“And also, a writer does not have to know what is all said and done before him, by any and every writer. Even if he knows, he does not have to pay obeisance. He does not have to quote any one, if he wants to present his own thoughts his own way.”
I have no reasonable answer to it, except I have great respect for Lyla garu. “obeisance?” Gee! Spare me.
Finally, I have neither written nor implied that I did not enjoy Prof. Muralidhara Rao’s article. Although I lack a knowledge of Sanskrit I can still read articles with difficult diction, refer a dictionary if necessary,or get help from erudite writers/readers and try to understand.
Kesari’s book is more an autobiography than a travelogue, but certainly it is a good piece of writing. It was reprinted in late 1990s and may still be available in the market. Narla’s family has published his “complete works” a few years ago. These should be still available in Vijayawada bookshops.
