I was brought up in Secunderabad from my infancy, so I would consider myself to be as telangANA as the next guy. May be more so than most present day residents of Hyderabad, who migrated relatively recently, after the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh.
I have no feeling against telangANA dialect whatsoever. In fact I would consider it as being closer to acca telugu in many instances. I think you would find a greater percentage of telugu words (tadbhavamulu, dESyamulu) in telangANA telugu than in AndhrA telugu which I think has a greater percen- tage of tatsamamulu.
The usual perception of telangANA dialect is the cliched language peppered with "embE sAlE" (equivalent to the Andhra version, orE bAmmardI), and many urdu/hindusthAnI words. This is one version of the dialect, mostly in the town of Hyderabad, not so much in Secunderabad, and in some (as Suresh Kolichala said, certain northern districts of the old State of Hyderabad) districts like Adilabad, Nizamabad, etc... I may not be entirely accurate in naming these districts, so correction by informed people is welcome.
If you go to districts such as Warangal, Karimnagar, you would find (at least would have found some time ago - time is relative, by some time ago, I mean the forties, fifties, sixties) telangANA telugu in its "telugu" form, not heavily doused (entymologists, comment here, isn't that better than "dosed") with urdu words.
Words such as "eruka", "pOragADu", "manchiga" (as opposed to bAgA), "calla" (as opposed to majjiga), "buvva" (as opposed to annam) - these are telangANA words and by no means should be considered to be any less valid telugu words than their Andhra/rAyalasIma/Vizag counterparts.
Sometime ago I wanted to write a small story (say the King's seven sons trying to dry the seven fish...) side-by-side in various telugu dialects. How many such dialects can we identify? I would welcome help in that, and in writing the story in each dialect. Why not on the net? Apart from the three mentioned before, plus the two telangANA varieties (with and w/o urdu words), I think we can come up with Nellore telugu, Barampuram/SrikAkuLam telugu, anymore?
