If you are unable
to read this magazine in unicode version, then here are some instructions
for making your web browser unicode-friendly. Please note that these
instructions apply only to major operating systems of Microsoft Windows.
Further the following assumes that your browser is Internet Explorer. For
help with other browsers and Operating Systems, please visit Wikipedia.
Windows 98
- Make
sure that your Internet Explorer version is latest. At least 6.0.
(open Internet Explorer, Click on Help in top menu and then click on
"About Internet Explorer" to see the version of Internet
Explorer);
- If
the version is not 6.0 or more then you need to upgrade it. Try the
following link. IE upgrade
- Now
we need a font for Windows 98. Download guatami fonts from here ( Gautami
font from Golden Web )
- Install the font.
(Start > Control Panel > Fonts > install new font )
- Now
download the following file and unzip to get usp10.dll. usp10.dll
- Now
place this usp10.dll file in "c:\program files\Internet
Explorer" folder.
- Close
all Internet Explorer sessions and restart it.
That's it! Now you should read telugu in your Internet
Explorer.
Windows
XP
Microsoft Windows XP come with full support of unicode for Telugu,
and also with a font called Gautami
by default.
Windows 2000
Windows 2000
include a feature called Windows File Protection (WFP), part of the
System File Checker, which is intended to avoid some of the common DLL
consistency issues. However, this feature makes replacing usp10.dll a
major pain. Hopefully the following steps will help you. Contact us if
you still can’t get Telugu unicode work for you.
- Make
sure that your Internet Explorer version is latest. At least 6.0.

"About Internet Explorer" to see the version of Internet
Explorer);
- If
the version is not 6.0 or more then you need to upgrade it. Try the

- Now
download the following file and unzip to get usp10.dll and a
replaceUsp batch file. replaceUsp.zip
- Unzip
the downloaded replaceUsp.zip
into a temp directory (like c:\temp directory)
- Run
the replaceUsp.bat script.
- Close
all IE sessions and restart IE.
Now you should be able to read telugu on windows2000.
