ସୌଂଦର୍ଯଲହରି ୧ - ୧୦ (ଆନଂଦଲହରି)


ଶିଵଃ ଶକ୍ତ୍ଯା ଯୁକ୍ତୋ ଯଦି ଭଵତି ଶକ୍ତଃ ପ୍ରଭଵିତୁଂ
ନ ଚେଦେଵଂ ଦେଵୋ ନ ଖଲୁ କୁଶଲଃ ସ୍ପଂଦିତୁମପି ,
ଅତସ୍ତ୍ଵାମାରାଧ୍ଯାଂ ହରିହର ଵିରିଂଚାଦିଭିରପି
ପ୍ରଣଂତୁଂ ସ୍ତୋତୁଂ ଵା କଥମକୃତ ପୁଣ୍ଯଃ ପ୍ରଭଵତି . ୧ .

ଶିଵଃ - Siva
ଶକ୍ତ୍ଯା - with Sakti
ଯୁକ୍ତଃ ଯଦି ଭଵତି - when enjoined
ଶକ୍ତଃ ପ୍ରଭଵିତୁଂ - empowered to create
ନ ଚେତ୍ ଏଵଂ ଦେଵଃ - if the lord is not thus
ନ ଖଲୁ କୁଶଲଃ - indeed unable
ସ୍ପଂଦିତୁଂ ଅପି - to even move
ଅତଃ - hence
ତ୍ଵାଂ ଆରାଧ୍ଯାଂ - you, who is worshipped
ହରି ହର ଵିରିଂଚାଦିଭିଃ ଅପି - even by Hari (Vishnu), Hara (Siva), Virinchi (Brahma) and others
ପ୍ରଣଂତୁଂ - to salute
ସ୍ତୋତୁଂ ଵା - or praise
କଥଂ - how
ଅକୃତ ପୁଣ୍ଯଃ - one who has not performed meritorious deeds
ପ୍ରଭଵତି - capable

When Siva is enjoined with Sakti, he is empowered to create. If the lord is not thus, he is indeed unable to even move. Hence how can one who has not performed meritorious deeds be capable of saluting or praising you, who is worshipped even by Hari, Hara, Virinchi and others ?

ତନୀଯାଂସଂ ପାଂସୁଂ ତଵ ଚରଣ ପଂକେରୁହଭଵଂ
ଵିରିଂଚିଃ ସନ୍ଚିନ୍ଵନ୍ ଵିରଚଯତି ଲୋକାନଵିକଲମ୍ ,
ଵହତ୍ଯେନଂ ଶୌରିଃ କଥମପି ସହସ୍ରେଣ ଶିରସାଂ
ହରଃ ସଂକ୍ଷୁଦ୍ଯୈନଂ ଭଜତି ଭସିତୋଦ୍ଧୂଲନ ଵିଧିମ୍ . ୨

ତନୀଯାଂସଂ ପାଂସୁ - minute dust
ତଵ - your
ଚରଣ ପଂକେରୁହ - lotus feet
ଭଵଂ - present in
ଵିରିଂଚିଃ - Virinchi (Brahma)
ସଂଚିନ୍ଵନ୍ - gathering
ଵିରଚଯତି - makes (Creation)
ଲୋକାନ୍ ଅଵିକଲମ୍ - all the worlds
ଵହତି ଏନଂ - carries this (Preservation)
ଶୌରିଃ - Shouri (Vishnu)
କଥଂ ଅପି - some how
ସହସ୍ରେଣ ଶିରସାଂ - by a thousand heads (as the serpent Adisesha, the tamasic form of Vishnu, who supports the world with his thousand heads)
ହରଃ - Hara (Siva)
ସଂକ୍ଷୁଦ୍ଯ ଏନଂ - having powdered this (Destruction)
ଭଜତି - observes
ଭସିତ ଉଦ୍ଧୂଲନ - sprinkling sacred ash
ଵିଧିଂ - injunction

Virinchi gathering the minute dust present in your lotus feet makes all the worlds. Shouri somehow carries this by a thousand heads. Hara having powdered this observes the injunction for sprinkling sacred ash.
(The dust of Sakti's feet is the Universe.

ଅଵିଦ୍ଯାନାମଂତସ୍ତିମିର ମିହିର ଦ୍ଵୀପନଗରୀ
ଜଡାନାଂ ଚୈତନ୍ଯ ସ୍ତବକ ମକରଂଦ ସ୍ରୁତିଝରୀ ,
ଦରିଦ୍ରାଣାଂ ଚିଂତାମଣି ଗୁଣନିକା ଜନ୍ମଜଲଧୌ
ନିମଗ୍ନାନାଂ ଦଂଷ୍ଟ୍ରା ମୁରରିପୁ ଵରାହସ୍ଯ ଭଵତି . ୩ .

ଅଵିଦ୍ଯାନାଂ - for the spiritually ignorant
ଅଂତ: ତିମିର - inner darkness
ମିହିର ଦ୍ଵୀପ ନଗରି - the island city of the sun (a division of the terrestrial world from where the sun is said to rise)
ଜଡାନାଂ - for the dull witted
ଚୈତନ୍ଯ - pure intelligence
ସ୍ତବକ ମକରଂଦ - honey of the (Kalpaka flower) cluster (of the wish yeilding Kalpaka tree)
ସ୍ରୁତିଝରୀ - flowing stream
ଦରିଦ୍ରାଣାଂ - for the impoverished
ଚିଂତାମଣି ଗୁଣନିକା - necklace of the Cintamani (the wish yeilding gem)
ଜନ୍ମ ଜଲଧୌ - in the ocean of births
ନିମଗ୍ନାନାଂ - those immersed
ଦଂଷ୍ଟ୍ରାଃ - the tusks
ମୁର ରିପୁ - the enemy of (the demon) Mura
ଵରାହସ୍ଯ - of the boar (an incarnation of Vishnu)
ଭଵତି - it (the dust in your lotus feet)

For the inner darkness of the spiritually ignorant, it (the dust in your lotus feet) is the island city of the sun. For the dull witted it is the flowing stream of honey of the (Kalpaka flower) cluster of pure intelligence. For the impoverished it is the necklace of the Cintamani. For those immersed in the ocean of births, it is the tusks of the boar (Vishnu), the enemy of Mura.
(Sakti is ଚୈତନ୍ଯଂ.

ଭଯାତ୍ ତ୍ରାତୁଂ ଦାତୁଂ ଫଲମପି ଚ ଵାଂଛାସମଧିକଂ
ଶରଣ୍ଯେ ଲୋକାନାଂ ତଵ ହି ଚରଣାଵେଵ ନିପୁଣୌ . ୪ .

ତ୍ଵତ୍ ଅନ୍ଯଃ - other than you
ପାଣିଭ୍ଯାଂ - by the hands (by empty gesture)
ଅଭଯ ଵରଦଃ - bestowers of protection from fear and boon
ଦୈଵତ ଗଣଃ - the assemblage of gods
ତ୍ଵଂ ଏକା - you alone
ନ ଏଵ ଅସି - you do not thus
ପ୍ରକଟିତ - display
ଵର ଅଭୀତି - bestowing of boon and protection from fear
ଅଭିନଯା - by gesture
ଭଯାତ୍ ତ୍ରାତୁଂ - protecting from fear
ଦାତୁଂ ଫଲଂ ଅପି ଚ - and giving reward
ଵାଂଛା ସମଧିକଂ - in excess of that desired
ଶରଣ୍ଯେ ଲୋକାନାଂ - Oh refuge of the worlds! (Sakti)
ତଵ - your
ହି - indeed
ଚରଣୌ ଏଵ - even feet
ନିପୁଣୌ - are expert

Other than you, the assemblage of gods are the bestowers of protection from fear and boon by the hands (by empty gesture). You alone do not thus display bestowing of boon and protection from fear by gesture. Oh refuge of the worlds! indeed even your feet are expert in protecting from fear and giving reward in excess of that desired.

ହରିସ୍ତ୍ଵାମାରାଧ୍ଯ ପ୍ରଣତ ଜନ ସୌଭାଗ୍ଯ ଜନନୀମ୍
ପୁରା ନାରୀ ଭୂତ୍ଵା ପୁରରିପୁମପି କ୍ଷୋଭମନଯତ୍ ,
ସ୍ମରୋଽପି ତ୍ଵାଂ ନତ୍ଵା ରତି ନଯନ ଲେହ୍ଯେନ ଵପୁଷା
ମୁନୀନାମପ୍ଯଂତଃ ପ୍ରଭଵତି ହି ମୋହାଯ ମହତାମ୍ .୫ .

ହରିଃ - Hari (Vishnu)
ତ୍ଵାଂ ଆରାଧ୍ଯ - having worshipped you
ପ୍ରଣତ ଜନ - people who bow (to you)
ସୌଭାଗ୍ଯ ଜନନୀଂ - the creator of auspiciousness
ପୁରା - formerly
ନାରୀ ଭୂତ୍ଵା - having become a woman (ସାରୂପ୍ଯଂ or assimilation with Sakti, one of the four states of Mukti or Liberation)
ପୁର ରିପୁଂ ଅପି - even Puraripu (the enemy of the three cities of the demons or the three bodies of man), (Siva)
କ୍ଷୋଭଂ ଅନଯତ୍ - led to agitation
ସ୍ମରଃ ଅପି - Smara (Cupid) too
ତ୍ଵାଂ ନତ୍ଵା - having bowed to you
ରତି ନଯନ - the eyes of Rati
ଲେହ୍ଯେନ ଵପୁଷା - with a body like a lambative
ମୁନୀନାଂ ଅପି - even sages
ଅଂତଃ - within
ପ୍ରଭଵତି ହି - capable indeed
ମୋହାଯ - (of generating) delusion
ମହତାଂ - of great

Hari having worshipped you, the creator of auspiciousness to people who bow to you, having become a woman formerly, led even Puraripu to agitation. Having bowed to you, Smara too with a body which is (like) a lambative to the eyes of Rati, is indeed capable (of generating) delusion within great sages.

ଧନୁଃ ପୌଷ୍ପଂ ମୌର୍ଵୀ ମଧୁକରମଯୀ ପଂଚ ଵିଶିଖାଃ
ଵସଂତଃ ସାମଂତୋ ମଲଯମରଦାଯୋଧନ ରଥଃ ,
ତଥାପ୍ଯେକଃ ସର୍ଵଂ ହିମଗିରିସୁତେ କାମପିକୃପାଂ
ଅପାଂଗାତ୍ତେ ଲବ୍ଧ୍ଵା ଜଗଦିଦମନଂଗୋ ଵିଜଯତେ . ୬ .

ଧନୁଃ ପୌଷ୍ପଂ - the bow is flowery
ମୌର୍ଵୀ ମଧୁକରମଯୀ - the bow string is made of bees
ପଂଚ ଵିଶିଖାଃ - the five (flowers) are the arrows
ଵସଂତଃ - Vasanta (Spring personified)
ସାମଂତଃ - neighbouring king (the traditional ally of Cupid)
ମଲଯ ମରୁତ୍ - breeze from the Malaya mountain (laden with the fragrance of sandal wood found there, by poetic convention)
ଆଯୋଧନ ରଥଃ - the war chariot
ତଥା ଅପି ଏକଃ - even thus and alone
ସର୍ଵଂ - all
ହିମ ଗିରି ସୁତେ - Oh daughter of the snowy mountain ( Himalayas personified as Himavaan,)! (Sakti)
କାଂ ଅପି କୃପାଂ - some sort (inexpresseble) of compassion
ଅପାଂଗାତ୍ ତେ - from the corner of your eye
ଲବ୍ଧ୍ଵା - having obtained
ଜଗତ୍ ଇଦଂ - this world
ଅନଂଗଃ - Ananga (the bodiless one), (Cupid)
ଵିଜଯତେ - triumphs

The bow is flowery. The bow string is made of bees. The five (flowers) are the arrows. Vasanta is the neighbouring king (ally). The breeze from the Malaya mountain is the war chariot. Even thus and (all) alone, Oh daughter of the snowy mountain! having obtained some sort compassion from the corner of your eye, Ananga triumphs over all this world.
(The eyes of Sakti bestows triumph to Cupid.

ଧନୁର୍ବାଣାନ୍ ପାଶଂ ସୃଣିମପି ଦଧନା କରତଲୈଃ
ପୁରସ୍ତାଦାସ୍ତାଂ ନଃ ପୁରମଥିତୁରାହୋ ପୁରୁଷିକା . ୭ .

କ୍ଵଣତ୍ କାଂଚୀ ଦାମା - one who has a tinkling fillet girdle
କରି କଲଭ - young elephant
କୁଂଭ ସ୍ତନ ନତା - one curved by a bosom like the frontal globes of a young elephant
ପରିକ୍ଷୀଣା ମଧ୍ଯେ - one who is lean in the waist
ପରିଣତ - fully developed
ଶରଚ୍ଚଂଦ୍ର ଵଦନା - one with a face like the autumnal moon
ଧନୁଃ ବାଣାନ୍ - bow, arrows
ପାଶଂ ସୃଣିଂ ଅପି - noose and goad
ଦଧାନା କର ତଲୈଃ - one who bears in the palm of her hands
ପୁରସ୍ତାତ୍ - in front
ଆସ୍ତାଂ - let her dwell
ନଃ - of us
ପୁରଂ ମଥିତୁଃ - of the destroyer of the three cities of the demons or the three bodies of man,� (Siva)
ଆହୋ ପୁରୁଷିକା - "I" conciousness

Let her dwell in front of us, who has a tinkling fillet girdle, who is curved by a bosom like the frontal globes of a young elephant, who is lean in the waist, who has a face like the fully developed autumnal moon, who bears in the palm of her hands bow, arrows, noose and goad, and who is the ``I" conciousness of Siva.p;

ସୁଧା ସିଂଧୋର୍ମଧ୍ଯେ ସୁରଵିଟପି ଵାଟୀ ପରିଵୃତେ
ମଣିଦ୍ଵୀପେ ନୀପୋପଵନଵତୀ ଚିଂତାମଣିଗୃହେ ,
ଶିଵାକାରେ ମଂଚେ ପରମଶିଵ ପର୍ଯଂକ ନିଲଯାଂ
ଭଜଂତି ତ୍ଵାଂ ଧନ୍ଯାଃ କତିଚନ ଚିଦାନଂଦଲହରୀମ୍ . ୮ .

ସୁଧା - nectar
ସିଂଧୋଃ ମଧ୍ଯେ - in the midst of the ocean
ସୁର ଵିଟପି ଵାଟୀ - park of divine trees
ପରିଵୃତେ - surrounded by
ମଣି ଦ୍ଵୀପେ - in a gem like island
ନୀପ ଉପଵନଵତୀ - pocessed of a garden of Kadamba trees
ଚିଂତାମଣି ଗୃହେ - in a house made of the Cintamani (wish yeilding gem)
ଶିଵା ଆକାରେ - shaped like Sivaa (the Sakti triangle of the Sricakra)
ମଂଚେ - in the bed stead
ପରମ ଶିଵ - Parama Siva (the supremely auspicious one)
ପର୍ଯଂକ ନିଲଯାଂ - dwelling in the couch
ଭଜଂତି ତ୍ଵାଂ - worship you
ଧନ୍ଯାଃ କତିଚନ - a few blessed ones
ଚିତ୍ ଆନଂଦ ଲହରୀମ୍ - the wave of intellect - bliss

A few blessed ones worship you, the wave of intellect - bliss, dwelling in the couch of Parama Siva (himself), in a bed stead shaped like the Sakti triangle, in a house made of the Cintamani, pocessed of a garden of Kadamba trees, surrounded by a park of divine trees, in the midst of the ocean of nectar.
(The blessed ones worship Sakti.

ମହୀଂ ମୂଲାଧାରେ କମପି ମଣିପୂରେ ହୁତଵହଂ
ସ୍ଥିତଂ ସ୍ଵାଧିଷ୍ଠାନେ ହୃଦିମରୁତମାକାଶମୁପରି ,
ମନୋଽପି ଭ୍ରୂମଧ୍ଯେ ସକଲମପି ଭିତ୍ଵା କୁଲପଥଂ
ସହସ୍ରାରେ ପଦ୍ମେ ସହ ରହସି ପତ୍ଯା ଵିହରସେ . ୯ .

ମହୀଂ ମୂଲାଧାରେ - the earth element in the Muladhara, (the 4 petalled lotus yogic cakra, or the level of conciousness corresponding to Bhuloka)
କମପି ମଣିପୂରେ - and the water element in the Manipura, (the 10 petalled lotus yogic cakra or the level of conciousness corresponding to Suvarloka).
ହୁତଵହଂ - the fire element
ସ୍ଥିତଂ ସ୍ଵାଧିଷ୍ଠାନେ - present in the Svadhishthana, (the 9 petalled lotus yogic cakra or the level of conciousness corresponding to Bhuvarloka).
ହୃଦି ମରୁତ - the air element in the heart, (the 12 petalled lotus yogic Anahata cakra or the level of conciousness corresponding to Maharloka).
ଆକାଶଂ ଉପରି - above the space element (the 16 petalled lotus yogic Vishuddhi cakra or the level of conciousness corresponding to Taparloka).
ମନଃ ଅପି - and the mind element, (the 2 petalled lotus yogic Aagnya cakra or the level of conciousness corresponding to Janarloka)
ଭ୍ରୂ ମଧ୍ଯେ - between the brows
ସକଲଂ ଅପି ଭିତ୍ଵା - having passed through all
କୁଲ ପଥଂ- via the Kulapatha or Sushumna nadi (as the subtle Kundalini Sakti)
ସହସ୍ରାରେ ପଦ୍ମେ - in the thousand petalled lotus, (the level of conciousness corresponding to Satyaloka)
ସହ - with
ରହସି - in secret
ପତ୍ଯା - with (your) husband (Sadasiva)
ଵିହରସେ - you sport

Having passed through all via the Kulapatha : the earth element in the Muladhara, the water element in the Manipura, the fire element present in the Svadhishthana, the air element in the heart, (going) above the space element, and the mind element between the brows, you sport in secret with your husband in the thousand petalled lotus.
(The devotee leads Sakti to her lord Sadasiva in the thousand petalled lotus, via the six lotus cakras.

ଅଵାପ୍ଯ ସ୍ଵାଂ ଭୂମିଂ ଭୁଜଗନିଭମଧ୍ଯୁଷ୍ଟଵଲଯଂ
ସ୍ଵମାତ୍ମାନଂ କୃତ୍ଵା ସ୍ଵପିଷି କୁଲକୁଂଡେ କୁହରିଣି . ୧୦ .

ସୁଧା - nectar
ଧାରା ଆସାରୈଃ - with a torrential stream
ଚରଣ ଯୁଗଲାଂତ - from within (your) pair of feet
ଵିଗଲିତୈଃ - trickling
ପ୍ରପଂଚଂ - the body (made of the five elements)
ସିଂଚଂତୀ - infusing
ପୁନଃ ଅପି - once again
ରସ ଆମ୍ନାଯ ମହସଃ - from the luminous collection of nectar (the internal Moon of the Sahasrara or thousand petalled lotus in the brain)
ଅଵାପ୍ଯ - having reached
ସ୍ଵାଂ ଭୂମିଂ - your territory
ଭୁଜଗ ନିଭଂ - similar to a serpent
ଅଧ୍ଯୁଷ୍ଟ ଵଲଯଂ - three and a half coils
ସ୍ଵଂ ଆତ୍ମାନଂ କୃତ୍ଵା - having made yourself
ସ୍ଵପିଷି - you (as the subtle Kundalini Sakti) sleep
କୁଲକୁଂଡେ - in the Kulakunda or Muladhara cakra
କୁହରିଣି - pocessed of a hole

You infusing the body with a torrential stream of nectar, trickling from within (your) pair of feet, once again having reached your territory, from the Moon of the Sahasrara, (and) having made yourself into three and a half coils similar to a serpent, you sleep in the Kulakunda (which is) possessed of a hole.
(The body of the devotee is drenched by the nectar of Sakti's feet.
Cf SVL Verse 10 :The devotee is engrossed in the bliss of remembering Siva's feet.
