Subs, as I said once before, is totally emotional creature. Though I have my suspicions that it was a deliberate cover up, since I heard him quote
aataDu naa vale unmatta bhaava saali
aaapukolEDu rEgu noohala nokinta
So, as I was saying, he loves quoting these line to impress gullible gals.
Anyway, on that peaceful morning, as I was minding my business, he walked in with an abstract expression and dragged the chair and sat next to the _malle teega_. Before I asked him anything he launched into a monologue.
"I never even imagined ..."
"That's because you lack the imagination."
"That is not the point, even with all my imagination, I never can do justice ..."
"Nobody said you are just either."
"Cut it out!! Take me seriously, this is really important."
I finally dragged the story out of him. He apparently saw a girl near the temple. He claimed that the girl even smiled back when he smiled. He was rhapsodic about the girl with borrowed phrases and tired words.
"Wait a moment, Subs! So, you like her looks!!"
"No, I like *her*, I like her looks also!!"
"But, you don't even know her name!!"
"What is in a name!! A rose by any name ..."
"Subs!! I mean, you don't *even* know her name!! You don't know anything about her! You seems to have jumped to this conclusion based on her looks alone."
Subs grinned. "That is a good start. But she is such a beautiful girl out side, she must be a beautiful person inside."
For a supposedly intelligent person, Subs sure is dumb occasionally, I wondered idly.
"Subs," I started, "Trust me. I know these things better. How cute a nose is no indication what she knows. For all you know she may be ..."
"Stop right there!! Don't you make decisions based on looks all your life? Don't you use words like 'mean-looking' etc? Don't you naturally trust a cute looking cat, but not a ferocious looking tiger? Besides, look at this, a beautiful girl like her probably never spoilt her mind with jealousy and hatred. She probably is loved by everybody and you know kids who grow up in a loving environment grow up to be loving-natured themselves. Besides all this, if I fell in love with this girl because she is really smart or can sing and dance, would you have objected? I consider that this girl is an an artist: no, actually make that an art piece."
Subs won this round with his tirade. I asked him curiously what he is going to do next.
"I am going to write a letter to her", he said shyly. "I need your help."
