"It is horrible that caste, religion, and region entered politics. We should eradicate these," said my friend.
I said it's probably not that easy to remove from politics those which are a part of life.
"If it's not possible, we should make it possible. Didn't we get into a big war just because there were fascists somewhere far away? Aren't we agonizing over Pakistan just because there are many Muslims here? This shouldn't continue."
I said these testify that the world was getting united and that we couldn't be apathetic to problems because they weren't ours.
"That's why we should do something about it," said my friend. I asked him what we should do.
"Observe how hatred develops. If the Muslims in our country don't question us, there won't be any religious hatred in our country. If the lower caste people stay put, there won't be any caste hatred. If the other regions don't look down upon Telugus, there won't be regional hatred. To end all hatred, they should hand over the political power to Telugus, especially to Hindus among them, and even more so to Brahmins among them. Then there won't be any kind of hatred," he said.
I asked how it would be possible.
"Non-violence, Fasting! Hartal! Constructive work!" said my invaluable friend.
